This collection explores memory, family dynamics, and the weights and obligations of relationships as powerful influences on female identity. Each story features the perspective of a woman responding to painful throes of life and a subsequent loss or lack of their own agency. The Girls Are Okay chronicles confrontations with grief and loss in various forms from death to divorce to coming-of-age. | |
