The purpose of this thesis is to examine the political reforms that were attempted in Iran by the Mohammad Khatami administration. In order to accomplish this I examine the Iranian Constitution, President Khatami's domestic and foreign policy reforms and the transformation of the Iranian political identity during the Khatami presidency. This study attempts to build on the limited scholarship on this recent period of Iranian history.en_US
