The story collection Worse Than I Remember features eleven stories quietly centered on relationship. Family, friendship, love, relationship to self and self-identity, relationship to place; the gaps left unfilled between those we are compelled and disappointed by. Each story is a reaction to where we find ourselves within the lives of others, and what it means to be human amongst humans. A large chunk of this collection was drafted and re-drafted during the author’s Teaching Fellowship in Versailles, France, where the author studied expatriate authors, as well as those from the Lost Generation, such as Ernest Hemingway, Gertrude Stein, James Baldwin, and Ta-Nehisi Coates, among others. The stories included in this collection, When Two Brothers are the Same Age, Oven, Cubalub, and Pretty Little Thing have been lucky enough to find homes in Cleaver Magazine, The Esthetic Apostle, SmokeLong Quarterly, and Eclectica Magazine.
