- Itemiterative creaturesChea, Katie JewThis is a collection of poems divided into five different sections enclosed by an introductory poem and an epilogue poem. With recurring themes of technology, space, and the deep sea, these poems serve to explore the beauty in the grotesque through body horror and existential ideas. Using sci-fi elements in tangent with experimental poetic structures, this collection examines what it means to be alive, what death entails, and everything in between. These poems include topics such as reincarnation, diasporic experiences, and self-perception through the lens of a speaker in search of higher knowledge. Entangling these concepts with poems that speculate on love, family, and worldly attachments, the collection itself provides a speaker full of contemplation in regards to the cyclical nature of life and death.
