Abstract

<i> Red Sky Night </i> is a collection of short stories linked together by place. The stories are set in small beach towns along the Jersey Shore, places unchanged by tradition and reformed by hurricanes. This collection is concerned with connections: familial connections, connections between strangers, missed connections. The characters in this collection are mothers and daughters, people rooted deeply into their spaces or returning after years away, strangers searching out something deeper from one another. These characters are haunted by the past and carry threads of folklore with them, finding comfort in shared experience. <i> Red Sky Night </i> uses instances of nostalgia along with myth and reality to showcase the often-unexpected intersections of life.
